Junior Weekend Wrap – Strong Start to the Season for the Tigers 🏏
It was a great weekend of junior cricket for Helensburgh, with our 13s and 15s teams taking to the field for the opening rounds of the season. There were some excellent performances across all grades, including strong batting displays, tight bowling, and plenty of team spirit on show.
Under 15A's – vs Dapto
Dapto batted first and posted a competitive 7/164 from their 30 overs. The Tigers bowled well to contain the scoring, with Liam B leading the way with 2/20 from 4 overs, and Jeremy M chipping in with 1/11 from 3 overs.
In reply, Helensburgh produced a fantastic chase, reaching the target in just 21.4 overs. Liam B capped off a brilliant all-round performance with 54 not out off 40 balls, while Nick M added a valuable 28 runs to help seal the win.
Under 15B's – vs Wollongong
Playing their first match together, the 15Bs faced a strong Wollongong side. Wollongong batted first and scored 3/155 from their 30 overs. For Helensburgh, Benji B picked up 1/32 (5 overs) and Joshua H bowled beautifully for 1/10 (3 overs).
In reply, the Tigers fought hard but finished with 88 runs. Sebastian S (19) and Walt S (18) were the top scorers in what was a solid first outing for the new team.
Under 13A's – vs Wollongong
The 13As continued their strong form, putting together a commanding performance against Wollongong. Wollongong batted first and made 5/117 from their 30 overs, with Archer LN the standout bowler, taking 2/8 from 5 overs, and Harry A supporting well with 1/7 from 2 overs.
Helensburgh then chased down the target in style, reaching the total within 15 overs. Samuel C was outstanding with 64 runs, while Archer LN (59) and Fletcher B (16) helped guide the team home for a comprehensive win.
A great start to the season for our junior Tigers — some impressive performances across all age groups and plenty to build on in the weeks ahead. Well done to all players, coaches, and families for a fantastic opening weekend!
