The 2024/25 season was one of strong individual performances and solid team efforts across all grades for the Helensburgh Seniors. With standout achievements, including centuries, five-wicket hauls, and a hat-trick, the club showed plenty of promise throughout the summer.

2nd Grade: A Season of Consistency and Class

Helensburgh’s 2nd Grade side finished their one-day campaign with a respectable record of 8 wins and 7 losses, showcasing resilience and competitive spirit. Leading the charge was Harrison Fairfax, who enjoyed a remarkable season, dominating both with bat and ball. Fairfax was the team's leading run-scorer with 376 runs and also claimed the most wickets, finishing with 28.

His outstanding all-round performance saw him sweep the 2nd Grade batting and bowling awards at the club’s End of Season Presentation Night. In addition, he was named Helensburgh’s Club Player of the Year and went on to receive the 2nd Grade Batting Award at the Cricket Illawarra Senior Presentation Night—an incredible recognition of his impact.

Brett Morris was another standout, claiming 25 wickets over the season and forming a formidable partnership with Fairfax in the bowling attack.

In the T20 competition, 2nd Grade managed two wins from five outings. Gavin McGuirk topped the run charts with 80 runs across the matches, while Liam Burrill and Brett Morris shared the top bowling honours, each taking five wickets in the format.

3rd Grade: Strong Individual Efforts

The 3rd Grade team recorded 8 wins from 17 matches, buoyed by consistent contributions from key players. Gavin McGuirk led the batting effort with 352 runs, earning him the 3rd Grade Batting Award at the club presentation night. On the bowling front, Matt Chaplin stood out with 26 wickets, claiming the 3rd Grade Bowling Award.

4th Grade: Development and Determination

Despite a challenging season that ended with 5 wins from 16 matches, 4th Grade had its share of bright spots. David Stewart was the leading run scorer with 280 runs, including a magnificent unbeaten century (101*) against Northern Districts Gold. He was deservedly awarded the 4th Grade Batting Award. Youngster Finn Stewart impressed with the ball, taking 19 wickets and earning the 4th Grade Bowling Award.

Season Highlights: Memorable Performances

The season featured several standout individual performances across all grades. Notably:

  • Harrison Fairfax took 5/13 against Corrimal on January 25, 2025.

  • Matt Chaplin matched that feat with 5/13, also against Corrimal, on February 15, 2025.

  • Logan Ackerman delivered 5/22 vs Wests (November 16, 2024).

  • Jayden Mallon impressed with 5/29 against University (November 23, 2024).

Centuries were rare but memorable, with Fairfax scoring a commanding 104* against Balgownie (December 14, 2024), and David Stewart delivering his 101* masterclass earlier in the season.

Rounding off the special moments was a thrilling hat-trick by Thomas Manning, who finished with figures of 4/38 against IPCC Black on November 9, 2024.

As the club looks ahead to 2025/26, there is plenty to build on—solid foundations, promising young talent, and a culture of hard work and achievement.
